hi everyone!

i have lived here for 3 months. for those 3 months i basically stayed in my apartment because i know nothing of this area. my mobility instructer finally came out today to talk to me and to see what my goals are. we did a small route from my apartment to the street. i am proud to say that after he showed me how to do it, i did the route to the street and back perfectly! we went to silver oaks drive which is next to my complex and crossed midway road at the corner of silver oaks as well. he said that i judged when to cross midway road perfectly even though midway is dangerous to cross. no stop lights or signs or crosswalks. so next week on monday he is coming out again to review the route from my apartment out to midway road. i will practice it this week, and show it perfectly on monday when he comes back out. i am going for a guide dog, so i have to know my route perfectly when guiding eyes comes back out to reevaluate my mobility skills. they came out in november to evaluate me and they said that my lack of confidence in a new area is the only thing holding me back from getting into the school.

i know that this might seem like a miniscule thing to rave about, but it is a big accomplishment to me. i am a very very quick learner. teach me a route once or twice and it is down in my memory.

Aww I'm so happy for you, Somanea. It's so cool when you learn something new. Keep it up and good luck!

You bet, you have a right to be proud.

Independence starts with a single route. So, you are on your way.

Congrats.
